Picking the Lock...
Sean Lock’s managers are pushing to shut down a fake Twitter account set up in the comic’s name.
The user @SeanLock_ has 24,000 followers and clearly poses as the Argumental host, posting such messages as: ‘Never really watched Comedy Central but just noticed they are showing my Hammersmith Apollo gig at 23:10. Just sayin'.’
However, his agents Off The Kerb have warned: ‘Please be aware that @SeanLock_ is an imposter pretending to be Sean. We are doing all we can to have the account taken down.’
They even had to tell Eddie Izzard: ‘Take it from us - it's not the real Sean! If you could let your followers know we'd appreciate it. Thanks!’
Among those to have been taken in by the impostor are BBC Comedy, Penguin Books and Omid Djalili – all of whom have linked to the account.
And the phoney even picked a Twitter fight with Michael Winner, prompting the director to post: ‘You’re such an arsehole Sean I'm blocking you.’ The fake Sean Lock then urged his followers to ‘give him hell’.
The bogus account has used pictures of the real comedian as his profile image (though now uses a Chelsea FC logo) and his account links to Lock’s DVD on Play.com.
However the quality of his jokes might have lead to suspicions. Posts he has made since setting up the account at the end of August include: ‘Made a killing today selling weed and bongos at Occupy St Paul's Cathedral’ and ‘Describing an erotic fantasy involving a Gary Glitter puppet will make your therapist raise his price. Trust me.’
He also had the audacity to tweet: ‘I can officially say I don't have a Facebook. If you think you're friends with me on there, it's a fake.
