More awards for Peep Show
Peep Show creators Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain have another trophy for their cabinet, after scooping a Writers' Guild Of Great Britain Award.
The pair, along with co-writer Simon Blackwell,were named best TV comedy writers for their work on Series 7 of their Channel 4 sitcom – beating fellow nominees Lead Balloon and Rev.
The radio comedy category was won by John Finnemore for his airline sitcom Cabin Pressure. It had been shortlisted against Fags, Mags And Bags, set in a Glasgow corner shop and written by Sanjeev Kohli and Donald McLeary, and Sarah Millican's Support Group.
Blackwell congratulated Finnemore over Twitter, saying: ‘Huge congratulations. Couldn't have happened to a nicer or more talented man. Enjoy your piece of sharpened glass.’
Meanwhile, stand-up Howard Read won the children’s category for Little Howard’s Big Question. which he wrote with Chris Chantler.
Victoria Wood won the award for outstanding contribution to writing, while the Morecambe and Wise biopic Eric & Ernie she spearheaded also won an award for writer Peter Bowker in the best television short-form drama category.
The awards were handed out in at Notting Hill's Tabernacle Centre last night.
