Gervais lands Golden Globes gig again

Hollywood invites more insults

Ricky Gervais is to host the Golden Globes again, despite supposedly upsetting some of Hollywood’s biggest names at the last event.

At this year’s ceremony, Gervais divide the star-studded audience with jokes about Robert Downey Jr’s time in jail, the age of the Sex And The City cast and Johnny Depp's wooden acting.

Organisers at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said at the time he ‘crossed the line’ with some of the material – but that hasn’t stopped them asking him back, with members voting 'overwhelmingly' for his return.

HFPA president Aida Takla O'Reilly said: ‘Yes, Ricky's back. After weeks of rumours it's finally official – Ricky Gervais will be back to host the Golden Globes.’

Doug Vaughan from the NBC network added: ‘Ricky is delighted to be coming back "He said the Golden Globes show is the most fun he has ever had.’

On Twitter, Gervais said: ‘It's gonna be biblical.’

The Golden Globes awards ceremony will be held on January 15 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
