Linehan pulls the plug on The IT Crowd

No series five, just a special

The IT Crowd is definitely over, its creator Graham Linehan has told fans.

He said he felt the show had run its course, so would not return for a planned fifth series next year.

The Channel 4 sitcom, which attracted about 2.5million viewers an episode, will end with an extended special.

In an interview with the Reddit news site today, Linehan said : ‘I'll say right off the bat... the bad news is no IT Crowd series five.’

‘I just wasn't looking forward to it the way I used to.

‘I felt that the last series was a nice strong point to go out on, and anything further might just be running on the spot’

It confirms what he told Chortle earlier in the year, when he said: ‘I don’t want it to be a zombie series where the show is dead but its body is still moving around.’

Four series of The IT Crowd makes it Linehan’s longest-running success, followed by Father Ted which ran for three series.
