Desperately seeking Michael

McIntyre tops list of internet searches

Michael McIntyre is the most searched-for comedian on Google, according to new research.

The former Britain's Got Talent judge attracts around 246,000 searches a month, which means his name is being tapped into the search every 10 and a half seconds on average.

Second in the list, complied from UK searches by ticketing website GetMeIn, is Russell Brand, with 201,000 searches, closely followed by Lee Evans and Russell Howard with around 165,00 each.

The top 15 is:

1. Michael McIntyre, with, predictably, common searches for 'Comedy Roadshow', tickets, and tours... though the research was done before he announced he was quitting BGT.

2. Russell Brand with common searches relating to Katy Perry, My Booky Wook and suspicion surrounding whether or not it is actually Brand singing on the Get Him to the Greek soundtrack [it is]. There are also hundreds of searches each month for ‘who is Russell Brand?’

3= Lee Evans with special demand for his version of Bohemian Rhapsody too, as well as searches for quotes and jokes, and ‘Lee Evans wife’. Her name is Heather.

3= Russell Howard. People are often hunting his Twitter account and the terms ‘Russell Howard gay’ and ‘Russell Howard girlfriend'.

5 Peter Kay. Popular searches include those for his I Know Him So Well video .

6= Alan Carr. Although some of the searches include people seeking his almost-namesake, Allen Carr, the How to Quit Smoking guru.

6  = John Bishop. Popular searches include tour dates, his role on Channel 4’s Skins, tour dates and – again – his wife.

Tim Minchin. Many look for lyrics, with Prejudice and Storm being two Google favourites.

9= Jimmy Carr. A 'huge number' are people looking for one liners and jokes, but one odd query stands out: ‘Jimmy Carr’s laugh’!

9= Jason Manford, with quite a few searching for ‘Jason Manford scandal’ and ‘Jason Manford wife’.

11=  Sarah Millican. Again, lots of requests for details of her boyfriend [who is comedian Gary Delaney].

11 = Bill Bailey. Mainly looking for tour dates, but also information on his headline gig at Sonisphere Festival this year, and his cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman.

11= Jack Whitehall Yet again people are searching for news of a Mrs Jack Whitehall, as well as whether he's gay.

11= Eddie Izzard. With common searches for his marathon runs, and his classic routine Death Star Canteen .

15   Al Murray With his recent gigs in Dubai demanding a lot of attention.
