Sky goes on a Trollied dash
Sky 1 has ordered two more series of supermarket comedy Trollied
The first eight-part series – starring Jane Horrocks as the acting deputy managing of fictional supermarket Valco – ends tonight, with a Christmas special to come.
Now two series, each of 13 half-hour episodes, have been ordered by Sky as it boosts its investment in original comedy.
Ash Atalla, the executive producer and managing director of RoughcutTV, said: ‘We’re glad viewers have taken to it so well and we’ll be working late, late nights to make sure the next series is even stronger.’
The series launched last month with a very impressive 1.15million viewers, but has since settled to around 400,000.
Sky 1 director Stuart Murphy said: ‘Trollied debuted as the most successful multichannel comedy ever, and following the tremendous response from customers, we’re delighted to announce a second and third season.
‘At Sky, we act quickly to reward and recognise great work, and as part of our growing commitment to original content, we will continue to back the creative brilliance of British talent.’
The second series – written by a team – will air next year.
