Impressive start for Sky's sitcom

Sky’s decision to invest in new British comedy seems to have paid off – with its supermarket sitcom Trollied garnering more than a million viewers on its debut last night.

The series, starring Jane Horrocks, won Sky One’s biggest overnight ratings of the year so far – more than three times the average number of viewers who tune in to that shot.

The sitcom started with a double bill, with 1.15million watching the first episode at 9pm and 980,000 watching the second straight afterwards, according to o Barb figures provided by Attentional.

Sky is making a multi-million pound investment in original comedy, which also includes the forthcoming series Mount Pleasant, Spy and This is Jinsy.
