Rowan Atkinson 'hurt in car crash'

Star loses control of £650,000 McLaren

Rowan Atkinson has reportedly been injured after crashing his £650,000 McLaren F1 supercar.

The Blackadder star is said to have had a lucky escape after losing control of the high-powered car, spinning it several times before smashing into a tree and then a lamppost. He got out of the car as it caught fire, according to the Mirror.

The crash happened on the A605 at Haddon near Peterborough at 7.30pm yesterday, and  it's understood that another motorist looked after the shaken star until emergency services arrived.

East of England Ambulance Service said a man was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with ‘a minor shoulder injury’ following the crash.

Atkinson, 56, is a car nut who owns a collection of vintage and classic vehicles – and this is not the first time he has crashed his McLaren, as he collided with a Rover Metro in Lancashire, in October 1999.
