Two-minute heroes
Sky 1 is to launch a new prime-time search for stand-ups who can impress audiences in just two minutes on stage.
A call has gone out for comics to take part in the ‘unique TV experience’, in which the best entertainer on the night will win £25,000. But it won’t just be comedians, as singers and variety acts will also try to impress in their two-minute slots.
The as-yet untitled show will be decided by the audience, with no ‘dreaded judges’ according to programme-makers Magnum Media.
The audience will be have voting pads, and those performers who can win over half of them go the next stage. The three most popular acts of the night will then have a second chance to perform, and another vote will decide the winner.
The blurb for the show reads: ‘Every act that’s a hit with the audience will instantly become a finalist, and one of those acts will be voted the show winner and receive a whopping £25,000… There’s no returning later down the line for a high pressured series final; it’s a simple big money win every time.’
Would-be contestants should apply to talent@magnumtv.co.uk.
Magnum’s other credits include Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night at last year’s Comedy Lab with Jack Whitehall.
