Comic steps into ring with David Haye

Michael McIntyre is to step into the ring with boxing champion David Haye for a new Sky 1 show.

Ricky Gervais – who has previously taken part in a celebrity boxing match with Grant Bovey – will also train with the WBA champ, ahead of his fight against Wladimir Klitschko next month.

Hay invited the two comics, as well as Justin Beiber, Dizzee Rascal and Mickey Rourke, to take part in the programme.

The celebrities will share anecdotes as they spar with ‘the Hayemaker’ in his training gyms in London, Miami and New York, while he will give them tips on boxing. The programmes will also look back on Haye’s career, ahead of his retirement later this year.

In the shows, to air on June 28 and 29, McIntryre boasts of being a champion at the age of seven.
