BBC 'treated My Family appallingly'

- says star Robert Lindsay

Robert Lindsay has blasted BBC bosses for axing My Family, saying they treated the sitcom ‘appallingly’.

The corporation is dropping the comedy after 11 series to make way for new shows, despite attracting an average 4.6 million viewers per episode.

In an interview with the Radio Times, star Lindsay said: ‘It's got so many fans and the The BBC has treated it appallingly.

‘The ratings were great but they ruined it by putting it out after the 9pm watershed.

‘It's a genuinely good family show - as my dad used to say, “You can watch it quite safely with your grandchildren”.’

When BBC One controller Danny Cohen announced the movee, he said it was ‘time to make room for new comedies [now that]all the Harper children have fled the nest’.

The last series starts later this month.
