He might be 6ft 5in tall, but John Cleese has been charged with speeding – in a Mini Cooper.

His car was allegedly photographed going over the 30mph limit on the A4 between Bath and Bristol on November 6 last year.

Cleese, 71, reportedly says he was not behind the wheel – but he has also been charged at Bath Magistrates' Court with failing to provide the identity of the driver.

The case is due to be heard later this month, though the Fawlty Towers star – who is currently on tour in the UK – does not have to attend in person.
