Dave Gorman, Al Murray and Flight Of The Conchords favourite Kristen Schaal are all returning to Edinburgh this year.

They are among the comedy Headliners announced by Assembly, a list which also includes Sarah Millican, Jerry Sadowitz, Milton Jones, Margaret Cho, Paul Daniels and Andy Parsons.

The venue will be based in George Square this year while its usual Fringe home in New Town is being controversially redeveloped by the city council – while it will also programme shows at the Assembly Hall, on The Mound..

Cult hero Neil Hamburger, Alex Horne’s comedy and music show The Horne Section, Glenn Wool, New Art Club and Andrew O’Neill area also in Assembly’s 2011 line-up. These are in addition to the announced acts Pajama Men, Daniel Sloss and Jimeoin.

Meanwhile, Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival has announced its programme, too.

Tim Minchin, Jimmy Carr, Daniel Tosh, John Oliver and Danny Bhoy are among the comedians with one-man shows, while Louis CK will be at the festival to be presented with the Just for Laughs Comedy Person of the Year Award.

The festival is also running later that usual this year, with the last English-language shows on Sunday July 31 – just before the Edinburgh Fringe.
