Hart FM
Miranda Hart is to join Radio 2 – but only for three shows.
She has been paired up with Now Show comedian Jon Holmes to host three two-hour sessions tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday.
She said: ‘I am full of childish excitement. Can I call myself a, what I call, disc jockey, now?’
Holmes added: ‘Miranda and I have been conducting a clandestine affair for many years, so what better way to announce our union than by becoming broadcasting's latest romantically linked couple after Richard and Judy, Radcliffe and Maconie and Bernie Winters and Schnorbitz.’
It is not the first time Hart has appeared on the station; her award-winning television show began life on Radio 2 in 2008.
Radio 2 has been keep to emphasise its comedy credentials, with Graham Norton, Alan Carr, Paul O’Grady and Matt Lucas all hosting shows. They even had the heterosexual Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders on over Christmas – and it recently relaunched the BBC New Comedy Award.
Hart and Holmes are temporarily filling the gap left by Mark Radcliffe And Stuart Maconie, who move to 6 Music, next week. Jo Whiley takes over the slot permanently from next week.
Stephen Fry will be the guest on tonight’s show, with Will Young on Tuesday.
