Sci-fi comedy set to be renewed

Futurama is about to be renewed for a seventh series, according to reports from the States.

The respected Deadline website says that Comedy Central is about to sign a deal for another 26 episodes of Matt Groening’s animated sci-fi comedy.

Futurama was revived in 2009, six years after it was cancelled by original broadcaster Fox, on the back of fan demand.

The revived sixth series was broadcast in two 13-part runs, attracting around 2.5million viewer to the US cable channel.

The next batch will air in a similar format, with two batches of 13 episodes premiering in 2012 and 2013.
