New book deal for Peter Kay

Next title out in September

Peter Kay has signed a ‘major’ new deal to write a third book on the back of his £35million Tour That Doesn’t Tour.

The new book is described as a mix of text, photographs and illustrations, depicting the ‘world inhabited by his characters’.

It will be titled The Book That's More Than Just A Book Book and published in September.

In securing the deal, publishers Hodder & Stoughton managed to poach the comic from his previous publishers Century, who released the memoirs The Sound of Laughter and Saturday Night Peter.

Kay said: ‘I never thought I'd write one book, let alone three. I'm absolutely delighted and every night, thank the good lord for spell check. I look forward to completing the book which is probably my most ambitious project to date.’

Kay’s first book was a major bestseller in 2006, selling almost 500,000 copies in the first two months on sale. His follow-up was less successful, but still sold 250,000 copies at Christmas 2009.
