Cat gets the cream...
The line-up for this year’s Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival has been announced – featuring YouTube musical sensations Bo Burnham and Rubberbandits.
Limerick’s hip-hop duo are playing Langton’s Ballroom on the back of their song Horse Outside, which has received more than 6 million plays.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Burnham – who won the Edinburgh Comedy Award panel prize at this year’s Fringe – is the only act to be making the trip across the Atlantic, with even festival stalwart Dom Irrera missing from this year’s line-up.
However, Australians Tom Gleeson and Wil Anderson will be helping make up the international contingent at the event, which runs from June 2 to 6.
The festival, the 17th, comprises 40 acts in 67 shows across 12 venues including Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne, Rich Hall, Tim Vine, David O'Doherty and acclaimed jazz-comedy fusion The Horne Section.
Artistic director Rebecca Austin said: ‘Cat Laughs fans can look forward to another stellar line-up this year, with plenty of home-grown comedy talent as well as new and exciting international acts.’
