Most influential Twitter comics named

Researchers have named the most influential comedians on Twitter – with Stephen Fry unsurprisingly topping the list.

He is followed by Eddie Izzard, IT crowd wrter Graham Linehan and Russell Brand.

Website PeerIndex has compiled the table based on the authority, audience and activity of people on the social media site. Although Linehan has a comparatively small audience of 52,000 followers, he is much more active and well-connected than comedians with bigger audiences.

Users are given a score from 100 – hugely influential – to one. The average score is 19. Chortle scores 50.
