James Corden to host Brits

'I can do better than Peter Kay'

James Corden will present this year’s Brit awards, organisers have announced.

And he immediately took a pop at last year’s host Peter Kay, saying: ‘I'm sure I could do better.

‘Bring it on! Peter was good but he could have been even more enthusiastic.’

The Gavin and Stacey star previously co-hosted the ceremony with Mathew Horne and Kylie Minogue in 2009 and said he was ‘honoured’ to be invited back to anchor the February 15 event at London's O2 arena.

It is believed organisers' initial choice of host, Justin Timberlake, declined the offer.

Meanwhile, organisers have also unveiled the statue for this year’s award, created by fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and featuring the slogan: ‘Stop! Climate Change.’

Nominees will be announced later today
