Star comic to stay in Premier Inns

Lenny Henry will be staying in Premier Inns during his forthcoming 64-date tour as part of his sponsorship deal with the hotel chain.

The company says the comic will shun five-star luxury for budget chain – where rooms are as low as £29 a night – after being the face of their TV adverts.

A spokeswoman said: ‘Lenny will be staying at Premier Inn with his crew for his upcoming tour. In fact we're looking forward to receiving his rider."

His five-month Cradle To The Rave tour begins next week in Newbury, Berkshire. However, it is close to the £2.1million farmhouse he used to share with Dawn French – and where he is believed to still live – so he may not have to check in to a hotel that night.
