Charlie Brooker jumps to BBC2
Charlie Brooker’s Wipe programmes are to transfer to BBC Two with an hour-long round-up of the year’s events.
Charlie Brooker’s 2010 Wipe will air sometime over Christmas and feature ‘the best and worst things that have happened in the world of news, television, games, and film over the past 12 months’.
It will feature comedians Doug Stanhope – giving his take on the BP oil spill – and Tim Key, performing the sort of poetry that secured him the Edinburgh Comedy Award.
Investigative journalist Nick Davies will examine the Andy Coulson phone-tapping affair, and broadcaster Grace Dent will present a soap opera round-up.
Brooker, whose shows have previously aired on BBC Four, said: ‘For those who don't have the patience to relive the entire year in real-time, 2010 Wipe will condense the whole of 2010 into one compact, easily-digestible package. Think of it as a souvenir, if that helps.
‘ We'll be looking back at the year before it's even finished, and pointing and laughing at various bits of it, like the repugnant animals we are.’
