Harry Hill to launch internet show
A trailer has been released for Harry Hill's new series – which will be broadcast online rather than on ITV.
He has made ten short episodes of Harry Hill's Little Internet Show, which will begin on AOL on Friday.
Here is the trailer:
Hill’s return to his ‘low-fi’ comedy roots comes as Alan Partridge prepares to return via the internet, and follows the likes of David Mitchell and Trinny & Susannah making web series.
In an interview with MediaGuardian, Hill said: ‘I used to make stuff on Super 8 and video when that came in. It is nice to get back to that, working with a small team in a low-fi way. I've been wanting to do something on the internet for a long time.
‘I am producer, editor, director and star, which is how I used to do things. People go on about high definition and the quality of pictures and sound but I always thought that is less important than the quality of the content and [whether] I think the jokes work.’
He added that he was lucky that his TV income meant he didn’t have to worry too much about making money from the web series, but could just experiment. ‘TV at the moment is quite risk-averse and with this you can't lose.’
Last week, Hill revealed that he nearly quit TV Burp because of the heavy workload, but now the series has been cut back to eight episodes this year, and eight next.
Harry Hill's Little Internet Show will air in five-minute episodes, all shot in and around Harry’s holiday home in Whitstable. The first episode of the series features Harry surprised by Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle when she asks him to hide her from manager Simon Cowell, with other scenes including pop diva Amy Winehouse getting caught in a cunning trap set by Harry.
New episodes will be released weekly. Content will be available first and exclusively for AOL Broadband customers from Friday to Sunday each week, before becoming widely available to viewers at aol.co.uk.
