Scuffle at airport

Russell Brand has been arrested at Los Angeles airport accused of attacking a photographer.

The 35-year-old jostled paparazzi as he arrived at he airport with fiancée Katy Perry. A video of the incident posted on the TMZ website shows Brand giving one photographer a brief but forceful shove on the shoulders before slapping away his camera.

One of the alleged victims made a citizen's arrest and airport police facilitated it, according to reports, and Brand was taken into custody.

Los Angeles Police said he was arrested for a misdemeanour charge of simple battery and was later released after posting $20,000 bail.

Perry defended Russell on Twitter, saying: ‘If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiancé will do his job & protect me.’

The singer added the hashtags: ‘#standbyyourman’ ‘#don'tfuckwiththeBrands’

Brand is currently filming a remake of the 1982 film Arthur, taking the part made famous by Dudley Moore. He will embark on a UK book tour for his second memoir My Booky Wook 2 later this month.
