They do try, bless 'em
It may not come as a huge surprise, but Jim Davidson has admitted that he’s no fan of female comedians.
The 56-year-old – who last week described his disappointment on seeing a younger generation of comics at the Comedy Store – confessed: ‘I’ve never quite got my head around female comedians.’
But he added, patronisingly: ‘I do admire the way they try.’
On his blog, the four-times-divorced comic said: ‘They must know that they’re up against it, especially from “Mr Bigot” like me but at least they’re having a go.
But he said that performers had it easy these days: ‘It can’t be that hard to be a stand-up comedian, there are thousands of them now.’
Davidson also stressed that he didn’t hate all modern comics, after calling the line-up at the Comedy Store’s Cutting Edge night an ‘awful, jealous, socialist bunch of c*nts’.
He clarified: ‘Someone’s just sent me something from a comedy website saying that I thought that all new comedians were crap. That’s not true, some of them are crap – mind you so was Arthur Askey.’
