An Innocent man

Alex Horne lands smoothie sponsorship

Comic Alex Horne has landed a sponsorship deal from Innocent drinks to boost his attempt to become the world's oldest man.

The smoothie company has sponsored the website charting Horne’s so-far successful efforts to claim the longevity title, which includes a pseudo-scientific countdown of where he stands in the world rankings – currently just below 3billionth place.

Innocent have also put up a £1million prize to the first person to reach the age of 150 – which Horne, currently 31, is hoping to achieve – while promoting its healthy eating message.

Innocent’s Dan Germain told Marketing magazine: ‘Alex’s stand-up show made us laugh a lot – especially the part about his mission to become the world’s oldest man.

‘Working with him means that we can share loads of his funny DIY films as he goes about his quest, and give a generous £1million prize to the person who gets to 150 years old first. The smart money is on Alex.’

On his website, Horne said: ‘I'm trying to set a World Record to one day be the oldest man in the world. I have been attempting this death-defying feat non-stop for the last 31 years and 7 months and although I'm now getting tired, I am still confident that I can keep going.

He added: ‘More fruit and veg means a healthier and longer life, so I’ve been told. So innocent are sending me smoothies and veg pots to help me along the way.’

Horne is also posting regular Twitter messages and YouTube videos about his quest.
