Billy looks down on us...
A giant steel sculpture of Billy Connolly is to be installed on the side of a Glasgow housing development.
The artwork, showing the comic playing his banjo, will be suspended from housing association flats 40ft above the ground, so it overlooks the Clydeside Expressway.
The £50,000 work has been commissioned from Andy Scott, the artist behind the giant sculpture of a horse beside the M8, by Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association.
Association director Gordon Laurie said: ‘Regeneration involves more than just homes and this public art, of such a popular local figure, is an exciting feature of our Anderston development.’
The new 430-home estate is close to where Connolly – who will be given the freedom of the city on August 20 – was born.
