BBC Two signs up Watson & Oliver

Six-part sketch series ordered

Double act Watson & Oliver have landed their own six-part sketch series on BBC Two.

The show will be filmed later this year in front of a studio audience with a mix of live and pre-recorded sketches.

Best friends since school, Lorna Watson and Ingrid Oliver have had three successful Edinburgh shows and appeared as actresses in shows such as Peep Show, The IT Crowd and We Are Klang

The new series follows a successful pilot recorded in March.

Cheryl Taylor, the BBC’s controller of comedy commissioning, said: ‘The series commission is a fitting testimony to the passion and hard work of everyone involved."

Head of comedy Mark Freeland added: ‘Watson & Oliver have a wonderful brand of feelgood, daft comedy. It's so great that this will  be seen by a wider audience.’

The series will be produced by BBC in-house in association with former Peep Show producer Robert Popper’s company Popper Pictures.
