Race for the Riviera

For Dee and Edmondson

Jack Dee and Adrian Edmondson are to embark on an eco-friendly race from London to Monte Carlo for a new ITV1 series.

The pair start filming the challenge next week, with ‘sabotage and cheating’ on the cards as they try to win a bet.

The programme features three pairs of celebrities racing each other across Europe. Former GMTV presenter Penny Smith has reportedly signed up for the challenge, too.

The 90-minute show, called Monte Carlo Or Bust, is being made by Fettis Films, which made the similar Three Men In A Boat series with Dara O Brian, Rory McGrath and Griff Rhys Jones.

One small note of trivia: the soundtrack to the original 1969 caper film Monte Carlo Or Bust contains the Schickel Shamble, best known as the theme to I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, which Dee has been hosting on its recent live tour.
