A Thick volume
The writers behind the Thick Of It have signed a deal to release a tie-in book this Christmas.
The DOSAC Files will be based on a supposed confidential Whitehall document that acerbic spin doctor Malcolm Tucker has left on the train.
Written by Armando Iannucci, Jesse Armstrong, Tony Roche, Simon Blackwell and Ian Martin, the book will be released by Faber in early November.
It will contain personnel files, policy drafts, letters and emails, transcripts of phone calls, election campaign documents and top secret papers on the government’s media strategy as well as early drafts of Tucker’s diary ‘n no legal condition for publication’.
Hannah Griffiths, who struck the deal on behalf of the publisher, said: A book starring Malcolm Tucker. How could we resist? Bringing this team of comedy-writing talent to the list makes sense in every way. We are absolutely delighted to be publishing the first book from this extraordinary team of writers.’
It is one of several comedy titles to be released by Faber this year, includig The 2nd Book of General Ignorance from the QI team, Harry Hill’s spoof celebrity memoir Livin’ the Dreem, Stewart Lee’s book about stand-up How I Escaped My Certain Fate and Sarah Silverman’s memoir The Bedwetter,.
