Online football sitcom ahead

David Baddiel is to front a short series of football-themed mockumentaries for the Dave website.

FC Dave follows a five-a-side football team which loses both its sponsor and manager – and will tie in with a competition to find a similar real-life team. Stand-up Eddy Brimson plays the team's goalie.

The channel has commissioned the five five-minute shorts, to start on June 3, in a bid to cash in on next month’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, Baddiel will be reuniting with Frank Skinner for a series of 20 free World Cup podcasts for Absolute Radio, which start next Monday.

Skinner joked: ‘I'm incredibly excited about Absolute Radio sending us to watch the football in South Africa this summer. I fully expect to have three lions on my shirt and another couple chasing the Land Rover.’
