Benidorm's fourth series confirmed

...Plus a one-off special

ITV has confirmed that Johnny Vegas sitcom Benidorm will be returning for a fourth series.

Writer Derren Litten let the news slip on his Twitter page a fortnight ago, bit now the broadcaster has made it official.

A one-off special will air later this year, with a full run retuning in 2011.

Michaela Hennessy-Vass, ITV’s commissioning editor of comedy says: ‘With impressive ratings and a great solid fan base that keeps building, ITV is thrilled to commission a fourth series of Benidorm along with a special to air later this year. ’

Executiev producer Sophie Clarke-Jervoise added: ‘Derren Litten has got some great treats and surprises in store for Benidorm's ever-increasing audience.’

On Twitter, Litten suggested that a live episode could be on the cards, following the success of EastEnders’ live edition.

Benidorm, which also include Steve Pemberton in its ensemble cast, reguylarly attracts six million viewers.
