A close call

6,000 have their say in Chortle Awards – but there are just 10 votes in it

Almost 6,000 people have cast their votes in this year’s Chortle Awards.

Michael McIntyre, Dylan Moran and Shooting Stars character Angelos Epithemiou are up for two prizes each, as are American acts Louis CK and Pajama Men.

Despite the high turnout, the polls were extremely tight in many categories. In one award the difference between the winner and the fourth-placed nominee was just ten votes. But other categories were more clear-cut.

The winners of the ninth annual awards, which recognise year-round achievement across the UK's comedy circuit, will be unveiled at a ceremony in central London on March 22.
