BBC drops Omid show
BBC One has axed The Omid Djalili Show after two series.
The first series of his stand-up and sketch show attracted 3.1 million viewers when it aired at 9.30pm on Saturday nights in 2007.
However, last year’s series was shunted to a later shot – 10.30pm – on a weekday, and subsequently attracted a million fewer viewers.
The Anglo-Iranian stand-up - who recently played Fagin in the West End version Oliver! – will continue to work on other BBC projects, such as the forthcoming sitcom In My Country, set in a multiracial guest house.
A corporation spokesman confirmed to Chortle: 'The sketch show won't be coming back.’
The BBC is currently working on another stand-up/entertainment show, fronted by Stephen K Amos.
