Radio slots for Russell Kane

Comic goes down under for Absolute

Russell Kane has been signed up to present a series of radio broadcasts from Melbourne.

The stand-up will be fronting segments on Absolute Radio from events including the Australian Open tennis tournaments and the Big Day Out music festival.

It is part of a deal between the station and Tourism Victoria to try to attract more visitors to the city.

In the broadcasts, to go out on Christian O'Connell's breakfast show, Kane will also visit the surfing hotspots on the picturesque Great Ocean Road and take a Harley Davidson tour of Melbourne.

Kane recently hosted ITV2's spin-off coverage of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! and has appeared on Live at the Apollo.

Absolute Radio has proved active in recruiting comedians, with Frank Skinner, Dave Gorman and David Baddiel – all of whom are represented by the Avalon agency – having broadcast on the station. It also aired the Edinburgh Comedy Awards ceremony last year.
