Fast Carr
Jimmy Carr has been found guilty of speeding.
The comic was clocked travelling at 50mph in a 40mph zone on the A1071 near Sudbury, Suffolk, in April 2008. He was caught by police using a speed gun.
He was found guilty in his absence at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates' Court today.
He was given three points on his licence and told to pay a £300 fine and £15 victim surcharge as well as £1,860 in prosecution costs and expert witness costs of £1,344.05.
In March last year, the lawyer dubbed ‘Mr Loophole’ – Nick Freeman – helped him escape a speeding prosecution because the court messed up the paperwork over an alleged offence in West London.
Freeman had complained of a similar blunder in the Suffolk case, but apparently without the same success, claiming a clerk's report of an earlier hearing was ambiguous.
