Not guilty plea entered

Roy Chubby Brown has denied assaulting a woman during a dispute in a car park.

The comedian’s solicitor appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court today to enter a not guilty plea on behalf of his 64-year-old client.

Brown, who did not appear in person today, now faces trial from March 10 under his real name, Royston Vasey.

His lawyer Barry Speker told the court: ‘Mr Vasey entirely denies the assault.’

The alleged offence is said to have taken place against Kelly Oliver on September 2 in a Middlesbrough car park

Meanwhile, Brown has cancelled his three-night run at Inverness Ironworks, due to begin tomorrow, citing bad weather.

A venue spokesman said: ‘With airports being closed and hazardous driving conditions Roy Chubby Brown, along with many of his fans, will be unable to travel safely to Inverness.’

The gigs have been rescheduled for April.
