Good ratings for Gavin & Stacey

The third series of Gavin & Stacey got off to a tidy start in the ratings last night.

Overnight viewing figures show that the new episode attracted a decent 5.6million viewers – 22 per cent of the total audience.

It is the best ratings the comedy has attracted outside of last year’s Christmas special – the first episode to air on BBC One, and which was seen by 6.8million viewers.

The new series of QI which followed Gavin & Stacey also had a solid audience of 4.5million, or 18 per cent of the audience.

Over on Channel 4, Alan Carr: Chatty Man attracted 1.2million viewers (6.6 per cent).
