Noel Fielding cancels tour

To concentrate on film and album

Noel Fielding has pulled the plug on his 2010 stand-up tour.

He had planned 17 dates in February and March – but has now cancelled them all, saying he is too busy.

The 33-year-old wants to concentrate instead on the film he’s writing with Boosh co-star Julian Barratt – as well as a music album.

The only official announcement seems to have come on Fielding's Twitter account. He sent out a message last week saying: ‘Just a quick message to say my tour has been cancelled so that Julian and I can concentrate on writing the film and the album x’

He added: ‘I really wish I had time to do everything but there have been a lot of complications and things shifting around out of my control. Sorry

‘I am really sorry if anyone bought tickets I really did not know that tickets had gone on sale when I cancelled it. So sorry people.

‘It seems there has been a major cock up somewhere I thought people had been informed ages ago. So sorry, I feel terrible.’

Birmingham Town Hall, where he had been due to kick off the tour with two gigs, said: ‘Due to circumstances beyond our control, these events have now cancelled and will not be rescheduled.’

Fielding’s publicist confirmed the tour was being axed because of the film, but said it would be rescheduled for a later date.

Venues will be contacting ticketholders about refunds.
