Gay men 'make best chat show hosts'
Alan Carr says gay men make the best chat show hosts, because they’re more ‘gossipy’ than heterosexuals.
The 33-year-old comic – whose own talk show returns to Channel 4 next week said: ‘At the heart of it, gay men are very gossipy, and very anecdote-led.
‘I think maybe a straight man wouldn't want to hear all of that - so maybe it's because we're interested in people's lives, and what makes them tick.’
Carr says he learned the craft of interviewing as a warm-up man for Friday Night With Jonathan Ross.
He said: ‘I watched the master at work from the studio floor. He gets the Hollywood A-listers who are media-trained within an inch of their lives and he still manages to get something good out of them.’
Among the guests lined up for the next series of his Chatty Man show, which starts on November 19, are David Tennant, Catherine Tate, Mariah Carey and Noel Fielding.
