Lady Gaga brouhaha
- Vic Reeves and wife Nancy Sorrell have been crowned the sexiest glasses-wearing celebrities.
- Al Murray put his foot in it when hosting the Q Awards. He poured scorn on the fact Lady Gaga didn't show up, and then refused to play her filmed acceptance speech. What he didn't know was that she was actually in New York looking after her dad after he underwent open heart surgery.
- Ah, PR companies, gotta love them. One of them tried to sell Chortle a feature this week on Britain's ten most controversial comedians to plug pre-Christmas DVDs. The pitch was: 'The UK is home to many controversial comedians that like to stir their audiences up! This piece will give the lowdown on names such as Michael McIntyre, Billy Connolly and Peter Kay...' Ah yes, edgy old Michael McIntrye and Peter Kay...
- If Jack Whitehall could be anyone for a day he would be Megan Fox so he could look at himself.
- YouTube clip of the week. For the shy aspiring comedian who wants to go on Mock The Week but can't be doing all that live gigging nonsense to get good... just make an animated version of yourself doing it:
- Armando Iannucci Tweets: 'D'you know, if you laid out all of Brtain's celebrity chefs end to end, starting at John O'Groats, I would shoot them?'
- Dave Spikey said he did his first-ever gig at a talent show in Devon. 'It was a strategic move,' he said. ' thought "If I'm rubbish in Torquay no one in Bolton will hear about it."'
- Irish model Ruth O'Neill says that if she could pick anyone to play her in a movie of her own life, it would be David Walliams.
- Wonder if Jamie Cullum knows of Ivan Brackenbury, the inept hospital radio comedy character who always plays the most inappropriate songs for his patients. When the pint-sized pianist appeared on the One Show last week, he said he would dedicate a song to a deserving viewer. At the end of the show, he did, indeed, read out the name of a woman who was undergoing chemotherapy, then played his song: I've Got You Under My Skin...
