Brand announces new gigs

Shows in aid of drugs charity

Russell Brand has announced three stand-up shows next month in aid of the drug rehab charity Focus12.

He will play London's Royal Albert Hall on November 8, Dublin's O2 on November 10 and Belfast's Odyssey Arena on November 11.

Brand is a patron of Focus12, which helped him beat his heroin and crack addictions, and earlier this year handed over £30,000 to help keep it from closure.

Another three big comedy shows have also been announced today. Rock With Laughter has run at the Birmingham NEC for the past four years, but has this year added a London date for the first time.

The show at Wembley Arena on December 22 features Al Murray, Jo Brand, Jasper Carrott and Ed Byrne, while the line-up for the NEC shows on December 18 and 19 includes Alan Carr, Lee Mack, Dara O Briain and Shappi Khorsandi. Lenny Henry will be playing both cities.

The shows mix music and comedy, with the likes of Sugababes and Bjorn Again on both bills – as well as Peter Andre, who risks being the butt of the comedians’ jokes for his well-publicised split with Jordan.
