Jo's Getting On well

Geriatric ward sitcom recommissioned

Jo Brand’s BBC Four comedy Getting On has been recommissioned for a second series.

The comic will write another six episodes of the sitcom, based in a hospital’s geriatric ward, which will air sometime over the next year, actors' newspaper The Stage reports.

The commission comes following the success of three episodes which aired last month.

Brand drew on her experiences as a psychiatric nurse to co-write the serie with her co-stars Vicki Pepperdine and Joanna Scanlan.

The first episodes were directed by Peter Capaldi, from The Thick Of It, in a similar naturalistic style to Armando Iannucci’s political satire.
