BBC apologises for Psychoville blunder

The BBC has apologised after mistakenly telling viewers they could watch the last episode of Psychoville if they pressed their remote’s red button.

The announcement came at the end of the penultimate episode of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s dark comedy, which aired last night.

However, no episode was available on the interactive ‘on demand’ service.

The corporation said today: ‘This was a mistake following a little misunderstanding and we would like to apologise sincerely on behalf of all those concerned.

‘We think the black gloved stranger may have had something to do with it.

The announcement was supposed to promote the extras on the Psychoville website, the BBC added.
