Singer blocks Weird Al parody

James Blunt has blocked Weird Al Yankovic from parodying his biggest hit, You’re Beautiful.

The comedian had recorded a spoof entitled You’re Pitiful, which he wanted to include on a forthcoming album.

But the Army-trained singer-songwiter has vowed he will ‘never approve’ the track.

Yankovic told fans on his Twitter page: ‘In case you were hoping for You're Pitiful to be included on my Essentials collection, sorry, this just in from Blunt's manager: Thanks for your email, but both James and I will never approve this parody to be released on any label.’

The decision is unlikely to do much for Blunt’s image. Indeed one music website reported the news with the headline: ‘James Blunt Is A Humourless Twat.’
