Brydon can finally be himself

Rob wins his own Twitter name

Rob Brydon can be himself on Twitter – after finally securing the user name robbrydon.

The Gavin & Stacey star had been beaten to the name by an American, also called Rob Brydon, so had to use the moniker RealRobBrydon on the micro-blogging site.

Although not a case malicious cybersquatting, the unfortunate coincidence did lead to confusion among the comedian’s fans, with the American admitting he was ‘always getting tweets’ for his more famous namesake.

So he unilaterally agreed to hand over the name robbydon, telling the star: ‘If you want it, I will send you the password. You can swap names and keep your followers.’

The Keith Barret agreed, and created tweeted the news to his 60,000 followers this morning: ‘In an act of random kindness, the other Rob Brydon has given me his name so I’m dropping the real. Please switch to @robbrydon.’

The switch will be made later today.
