I was a Wimbledon security threat

...says Dom Joly

Dom Joly has revealed that he was once considered as a security threat at the Wimbledon tennis tournament.

At the time he was filming Trigger Happy TV, security chiefs at the All England Club feared he would walk on to Centre Court with his giant mobile phone and shout: ‘Hello ... no it's rubbish!’

So they distributed his photography among staff  – and told them not to enter the grounds.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Joly said: ‘When I was doing Trigger Happy and I had the big mobile I was told they actually had a special meeting where they handed out my picture and a picture of my mobile phone because they were sure that I was going to come and do a “Hello, I'm on Centre Court” and “No it’s rubbish!”

‘I can't believe I never thought of it but I didn't, but I was quite pleased that I had my little security briefing.’
