Sandler: I'll never do stand-up again

Movie role evokes bad memories...

Adam Sandler has vowed never to return to stand-up ever again - after returning to the clubs for his new film.

Sandler began his career on the New York stage while a student, before finding success as a writer and actor. But he was forced back to his old job for the new film Funny People, in which he pays a comic.

Director Judd Apatow says the experience put Sandler off stand-up for life.

He told Empire magazine: ‘Adam hadn\'t done stand-up comedy for 12 years. We arrived unannounced at a lot of clubs around town and I remember we were driving to one place and he just said, “This is exactly why I don\'t do this - I so do not want to do this!’

But he said Sandler’s decision is a loss to live comedy. ‘Adam was one of the best stand-ups around,’ he said. ‘He has this gift that no one remembers. He killed.’
