Frank's on the Fringe

Skinner is coming to Edinburgh

Frank Skinner is to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe, it was revealed today.

The comic will be bringing his Credit Crunch Cabaret show to the Assembly Rooms and, in keeping with the ticket prices he charges for the show at the West End, admission will be £10.

The 90-minute show will mix comedians, musicians and other festival acts every day from August 14 to 30, with two shows a day over the final weekend.

Skinner said: ‘I'm really excited for two different reasons. From a totally selfish point of view I love hosting the Credit Crunch Cabaret and I love being in Edinburgh. From a less selfish point of view, I love the fact we're doing a 90-minute show with top-notch acts for only a tenner.’

Skinner restarted his stand-up career at the festival two years ago, playing the intimate Pleasance Cabaret Bar venue where he won the Perrier back in 1991.

Acts who have appeared at Frank Skinner’s Credit Crunch Cabaret during its Monday-night residency at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftsbury Avenue have included David Baddiel, Michael McIntrye, Al Murray, Ian Broudie form the Lightning Seeds, Connie Fisher and Tara Palmer-Tonkinson.

The show will take place at 6.50pm from August 14 to 30, with midnight performances on Auguts 27, 28 and 29.

Other big names coming to the Fringe include Julian Clary, Alistair McGowan, Janeane Garofalo – and porn star Ben Dover. The official programme is out on June 10, but Chortle will publish a preview of the listings several days before that.
