Sky gets Simpsons before the US

Special St Patrick's Day premiere

Sky 1 is to air an episode of The Simpsons before it is even screened in the US.

In The Name Of The Grandfather will air on March 17 a week ahead of its airing on home network Fox.

In the episode, the cartoon family travels to Ireland where Homer and his father, Abe, buy a pub called O’Flanagan’s. They also visit several Irish landmarks including the Giant’s Causeway, Blarney Castle and the Guinness Brewery.

The episode will air as part of a themed night marking St Patrick's Day.

The Simpsons' executive producers, Al Jean and James L Brooks, and Nancy Cartwright, who voices Bart, will be visiting Ireland to promote the show, and will feature in Dublin’s St Patrick’s Day festival.

Sky 1 usually shows episodes of The Simpsons about a week after they are broadcast on Fox, its sister station.
