Seann Walsh scoops Leicester title

Triumph in new act final

Brighton-based newcomer Seann Walsh has won the Comedian Of The Year title at the Leicester Comedy Festival.

The comic, who was also runner-up in last year’s So You Think You're Funny? new act competition, was entered into the competition by the Komedia comedy club.

>The 23-year-old, who won £1,000, said: 'I'm delighted. After two years on the circuit that's the last new act competition I will ever have to enter.’

All finalists in the contest, sponsored by the Leicester Mercury, are nominated by clubs around the county.

Fergus Craig took the runner-up place, while Chris Stokes was placed third.

Other finalists were Joe Bor, Carl Hutchinson, Tom Adams, Grainne Maguire and Chris Ramsey.

The competition has been running since 1995, and previous winners have included Johnny Vegas, Mitch Benn, Jason Manford and Rhod Gilbert.
